Often it seems that when you try and say something encouraging to someone who is really down, it has no effect. You could become the target of misdirected anger or disappoint. Maybe they feel shame or embarrassment and shut down or turn away from you – change the subject.

It is difficult for some people to accept or hear positive things about themselves because they don’t believe in themselves to begin with. What we know to be true in our mind we sometimes cannot embrace with our hearts.

At difficult times like these it is important to stay positive and encouraging, and to perservere. This eventually lets the person know that you are not just trying to flatter them, but genuinely care about how they feel. When you really care, your heart will be felt in the weight and tone of your words.

Positive, encouraging feedback from others: family, friends, a community, is necessary for us all to feel whole. It helps us realize that we are human like everyone else, that other people are hurting too, and that we can take strength from them.

What part do you play in the lifting up of others? Have you said something nice to your kids today? Have you offered them words of encouragement; told them you were proud of them? Have you tried to reach out to someone who needs help?

If this is hard for you to do – the spiritual uplifting of others – then look inward and think about what might be blocking your feelings of love and support. Perhaps you have hurts you still carry within you, that prevent your heart from unfolding.

When you give positive words and emotions to others you are like a gardener or farmer planting seeds. If you have ever gardened or farmed, you know that planting and tilling and sewing seeds is hard work. They may not grow right away, or as fast, or in the way that you would have liked, or they may not grow at all.

But if you nourish them steadily, reinforcing feelings with words and words with feelings – and good deeds – usually they will grow and blossom into something greater, something beautiful. Whey you speak kindly and encouragingly to others you are planting seeds that one day can make a big difference in a person’s life, when they finally take root and blossom.

So we are social animals and get our identity from the feedback of people and culture around us. We all have this power to uplift others, which in turn will help uplift ourselves. We must also be aware of our ability to hurt others through careless words and selfish disregard. We each have a responsibility to uplift each other.

When you hurt others you injure your own heart, and you can no longer walk without a shadow over you, in the light of integrity. You will no longer feel whole within yourself. When you hurt others your soul dies a little too. There is no greater feeling, or task, than empowering another through love and support. But the work comes before the reward; as ye shall sew, so shall ye reap.

If you think that your life does not touch others, that they are not your business, you will find yourself cut off from those around you, from the society around you. And even if you form your own little society, it too will be alienated from society at large. There is a communal soul we all must share and take part in.

When you try to encourage others, don’t try and force a solution onto their life, or set a timetable for them to heal. Some people get over a relationship in 2 weeks; some take 2 years. Practice patience. Be like an old Oak Tree by their side. Listen to them closely enough and they will tell you what they need to heal. Then help them to get it.

Have faith that you can be a positive influence in a person’s life. Believing something makes it much easier to do. When you see some of the fruits of your efforts and find some success, you share in the bounty. You begin to have more faith in yourself.

Asia is steeped in mystery, tradition, and great history. Everything has deep meaning from the signs of the zodiac to the characters used in written language.

If you are a bride looking to bring the mystery and wonder of the East to your wedding, here are several great ways to do so using Asian wedding favors. You may be a native of Asia simply looking to introduce the taste of home, along with your family’s culture, into your nuptials. Or, perhaps you are a bride from abroad who has come to love the culture. In either case, here are some useful tips and suggestions to make your special day unforgettable.

Use Chinese calligraphy as a motif. The Chinese writing system is one that functions on symbols and imagery rather than the phonetic system most nations use. A single character can have several meanings depending on whether it is used on its own or in conjunction with other characters. Use a character like tranquility on your gifts to convey a wish of peace to your guests or use the character for fortune and luck to wish them well in their endeavors.

For the Asian bride who knows what will work in terms of tradition, take these considerations into account. It’s always adviseable to have a correct interpretation of any symbol you might use to ensure it’s proper use and you will also want to make sure your guests understand the meaning of any such symbolic uses. Be creative in how you achieve this.

Another great idea is to take advantage of holidays in your decoration ideas. A good example is the Lunar New year. Try picking out favors that could double as Lunar New Year gifts. This will introduce your guests to a new holiday if they are not familiar with it. Also try giving traditional Asian New Year foods as edible favors. Try using Bings. These are baked wheat flour pastries that are often filled with a sweet bean filling. You might consider using sesame seed dumplings as a good alternate choice. Use your imagination and a good recipe book and package your edible favors in Asian themed favor boxes.

Also try using mythical Chinese animals as designs and decorations on your wedding favors. Mythical creatures in Asia have great importance and are also symbols of good fortune and virtue. Here are a couple of examples. The most famous one is the Chinese dragon. It is a symbol of the Emperor. It is also a symbol of great fortune and was often used as an image for all types of holidays and special occasions.

Another legendary creature that is especially tied to wedding is the Chinese phoenix called the Feng Huang. This creature is often represented as two birds a male and female eternally united. They are considered the symbol of marital fidelity and are used as imagery in traditional Chinese weddings.

Don’t hesitate to use your own style to influence whatever choices you make. While trying to keep to your theme, target new looks and modern interpretations that you can use in your gifts. This will enable your gifts to really spark the attention of your guests. It’s always a good thing when you are giving exotic and unique gifts to your guests as wedding favors.

Finally, keep in mind the Asian wedding traditions. As much fun as it is to borrow from other cultures, always do so with great respect for the culture. Doing so will give your favors authenticity and will make your favors a delicious addition to your special day.

There is a famous quote from Karl Jung, "What you resist, persists". Whilst you might not know much about the Law of Attraction, it's basic statement is that you attract what you think about the most. This is true even if you are thinking about something you really don't want. In fact, because most people spend more time thinking about things they don't want, and really try to resist them, according to the Law, you are just going to attract more of those bad things to you.

There is an eminent and very profound quotation from Carl Jung – the great psychologist and protégé of Freud – in which he says, ” What you resist, persists.” In other words, you become what you fight hardest against, because that’s what your energy is going into, and that’s the energy you will attract into your life.

While you may be somewhat confused about the Law of Attraction, it’s fundamental idea is that you attract what you think about most. Because thoughts are energy, they naturally attract whatever images and feelings they contain.

This is particularly powerful if you are obsessing about things you truly don’t desire. In actuality, considering many of us spend a great amount of time worrying about stuff we don’t want to happen, and quite honestly and genuinely struggle to resist them, according to the Law of Attraction, you are merely going to attract a greater amount of these unhealthy phenomenon into your life.

If you suffer from excessive perspiration, or hyperhidrosis, you will be fortunate to recognize how comprehending this Law of Attraction could facilitate the surmounting of your problem. You likely spend much too much time becoming stressed out and worrying about your voluminous perspiring. You anticipate it before it even happens, and the mere thought of it brings it on. In fact, you’ve probably discovered, as the Law of Attraction says, that the more you think about sweating, the more you are going to sweat.

Soon – say you are about to go in for a job interview, or meet a beautiful woman for a date – you become so aware of your perspiring, or the possibility that you MAY perspire, it is all you can think about, it becomes all consuming, and thinking about it you actually cause it to happen. That’s the power of the mind and our thoughts.

So when you’re first preparing to go to work, or to go out for the night under the hot scrutiny of sizzling members of the opposite sex, you’re probably not perspiring much . . . yet. But the negative thoughts begin to accumulate, to take on a life of their own, and you begin increasingly to worry about when the sweating will begin. It’s a vicious circle. The more you think about sweating, the more you sweat.

This obsessive, unreasonably excessive worrying begins too wear down your self image – your self-esteem begins to falter. You begin to identify yourself with your weaknesses, your inability to control yourself. You begin to despise yourself for being weak, for not having the power you perceive others as having to live fulfilling lives.

When you begin to feel weak and inadequate, you attract other people into your life who share the same feelings. Notice how the shy wallflowers at a party end up talking to each other? Unless you’re an attractive woman, you usually need to be a little aggressive – a little confident – if you want to meet others in public settings. It is easier to talk to someone who is alone and who looks like they are desperate, like you, to talk to someone. Like energy attracts like energy.

It would naturally take a long time to elucidate the Law of Attraction in greater depth, but if you understand that worrying about a predicament only makes that problem worse, you can start using the Law of Attraction to eliminate your hyperhidrosis, or any other problem you have. If you think optimistic thoughts about yourself and your problems, the Law will work in reverse, and begin to lessen the severity of your worries and obsessions.

You will gain confidence and attract more confident people towards you. Opportunities in life that once passed you by will suddenly become obvious. Why didn’t I think of that before? Why didn’t I go to that job interview? Because you didn’t believe you could succeed. Your thoughts were negative, and the Law of Attraction kept you from achieving what you most desired. It, or YOU, pushed it away.

You obviously want to be sweat-free and confident all day, so you should systematically apply some thought to this. You could begin to practice visualizing positive outcomes instead of negative ones.
