In news that is beginning to take many people by surprise, more and more research data is

confirming that many people suffer from serious nutritional deficiencies. We normally think of people with nutritional deficiencies as living in poor, Third World countries. But in fact, the problem is far more widespread and complicated than that. Ironically, many of the obese people living in America are suffering from one form of nutritional deficiency or another.

So a lack of good nutrition is not just the province of the poor anymore. Many wealthy people suffer from abysmal diets that put their health at great risk, because food companies care more about profit than health. Americans have one of the poorest diets in the developed world. But the good news is that diets in America are slowly changing for the better. More and more people are increasing their intake of fruits and vegetables and decreasing their intake of fried, fatty junk foods.

That is why more and more people are taking dietary health supplements everyday. Many diets are deficient in some nutrients, and we just can’t get all the nutrition that we really need from our diet alone. Vitamin and [...]

Alpha-lipoic acid is considered one of the most powerful antioxidants manufactured by the human body. It has been called the “universal” antioxidant because it boosts glutathione levels in cells, and is both water and fat soluable. Alpha-lipoic acid is found in every cell of the body, a cofactor in several multi-enzyme complexes where it helps turn glucose into energy.

Alpha-lipoic acid is an essential co-factor in energy metabolism in organisms from microbes to humans. A nutritional coenzyme that participates in the energy metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, with a particular role in blood glucose disposal,  alpha-lipoic acid is necessary for the mitochondrial energy production of the cell, which keeps us alive; it can also help reduce the aging process which reduces wrinkles in the skin and inhibits the disease process.

The therapeutic potential of alpha-lipoic acid is just beginning to be explored, but holds great promise. Alpha-lipoic acid can be found in foods such as organ meats, spinach, broccoli, peas, brussel sprouts, and rice bran. The richest natural food source of alpha-lipoic acid is red meat; other sources include, spinach, broccoli, potatoes, yeast (particularly brewer’s yeast), and certain organ meats (such as [...]

Anti-Aging

Scientific studies, some conducted at Yale University,  have shown that green tea can significantly reduce the risk of many cancers and even reduce the size of tumors. It has been used for thousands of years in China, India, Thailand, Japan and other Eastern countries as a general health tonic, much like ginseng, without significant negative side-effects. And like ginseng, science is only beginning to discover its incredible anti aging health benefits.

Here’s a nice little ditty about the Japanese spiritual relationship to tea ceremonies, a very special part of their culture. ” In japan, the traditional japanese tea ceremony is a chance for friends to gather in a harmonious environment and reflect upon the simple joys of friendship and the beauty of nature.”

Beyond cancer additional research has shown that green tea increases the heart’s resistance to vascular diseases, increases life span, cleanses the body of toxins and strengthens your immune system. Green tea can even fight gingivitis (gum disease) and prevent your teeth from getting cavities.

Even better for most people, green tea delays and reduces the onset of wrinkles as we age. This keeps us looking younger and healthier, which helps [...]
