Green Tea: Anti-Aging Benefits & weight Loss

Green tea has been a prized staple of Chinese and other Asian diets for thousands of years.  It is considered an antigen (immune system enhancer) and adaptogen, which means it can adapt itself in many different ways to whatever your body needs, providing balance and overall good health.

Of all the supplements that have been scientifically studied, green tea has proven to be one of the most potent antioxidants ever discovered. This is surely one of the greatest anti-aging supplements. As such, it will help fight and prevent many diseases.

For example, green tea has been shown to fight cancer and heart disease, lower cholesterol, burn fat, and help prevent stroke and dementia.

Green Tea Antioxidants

The antioxidants in green tea are called catechins and polyphenols, which scavenge free radicals (slowing the aging and disease process) and help protect our DNA (the building blocks or “code” within each cell of our body), and are known to help prevent and treat not just cancer, but blood clots and atherosclerosis, or hardening and blockage of the arteries due to the buildup of harmful plaque. Cardiovascular disease is one of the major causes of death.

CoQ10: Health Supplement for Anti-Aging

Image via Wikipedia

Researchers of one study found that “CoQ10 is an anti-aging substance under normal physiological conditions.” This was under testing in mice using doses that would be the human equivalent of 500 mg to 1700 mg per day. Although their research suggested that 1700 mg per day may induce cognitive impairment, these researchers admitted that, “it would be fair to comment that the upper safe limit of 1200 mg per day recommended by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) is lower than the estimated 1700 mg per day that would lead to cognitive impairment in humans.” In other words, use in moderation like everything else.

Ubiquinone, another name for coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) comes from the word “ubiquitous,” meaning “everywhere” – a fitting name since it is found in and essential to every cell of the human body. Unfortunately, levels of CoQ10 produced by the body decrease with age by as much as 70%, and with the development of certain diseases such as Parkinson’s , asthma, and heart disease. Scientists have been studying CoQ10 for many years, and it is now one of the most popular health supplements in the world due to [...]

DHEA: The Youthful Anti-Aging Hormone

Dhea is an acronym for the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone, which, along with human growth hormone, are the most abundant, important and powerful hormones in the human body. Dhea is the most abundant of the more than 150 hormones produced by the adrenal gland. DHEA is so powerful that many consider it to be one of the most effective anti-aging supplements ever discovered.

It is important to make a distinction from the very start between general “anti-aging” qualities and “life-extension” qualities. Anti-aging is anything that makes you look and feel younger than your biological age. It can reduce and delay the incidence of disease, increase energy, reduce wrinkles and depression, etc.

On the other hand, life-extension actually prolongs the number of years you can live – it increases your lifespan. Dhea, despite its incredible anti-aging qualities, has not been shown to extend lifespan, unlike supplements like melatonin, which I will discuss in another article. But it is vital in maintaining youthful vigor while you are alive.

The discovery of dhea as a powerful aid to human health took place decades ago, making it one of the pioneer anti-aging supplements. I have been taking it for about 8-9 years already and I’m only [...]
