What’s more, the next alcohol dependency warning sign got her thinking with deadly seriousness about her drinking situation: “Do you drink to avoid reality or painful feelings and situations?” When she thought about her life for a few minutes, she realized that in almost every difficult, painful or stressful situation in the past few years, she told herself that she needed a drink to help manage it and feel confident and in control.
The final alcoholic warning sign that was the final straw to break the camel’s back concerning her drinking problem was: “Has your ambition, your joy in life and desire to achieve your dreams diminished since you started drinking more frequently?” When Daniel read this sign she clearly realized that drinking had become a major issue in her life because of her lack of energy, depression, listlessness, and also because she stopped pursuing her passions, dreams and goals.
When Misery Turns Into Hope
After thinking about all of these debilitating and injurious alcohol addiction symptoms and signs, Daniel at first felt even more depressed. Then something really amazing occurred. She reflected on the fact that she was going to see her health care provider about her problem drinking and she also knew that that she would discuss all of the above alcoholism warning symptoms and signs with her. In other words, soon the truth would be out in the open where she didn’t have to hide from it anymore. This gave her a great sense of relief.
For the first time in several years, Daniel genuinely felt a sense of hopefulness, relief and anticipation because she was facing her drinking problem instead of running from it, and was at long last ready to make the necessary lifestyle changes in order to restore the life that was drifting away from her. She knew it wouldn’t be easy, but she had a sense there were better days ahead.
That’s a brilliant observation, reflective of the kind of creme de la creme readership we get here at the new superhuman. Sort of a club for budding creative geniuses, philosophers of the future.
